Last week our St Cuthbert’s dance group performed on the Winter Gardens’ stage for the first time since Schools’ Alive 2019, almost two years ago. What a night it was! The performance was a 1920’s mash up with flapper dressers, sequins and plenty of pizazz. Our children’s efforts, costumes, staff commitment to all things dance was worthy of a “strictly 10”. One parent caught me outside St John’s whilst waiting for the children to return and said, “It was the best on the night by far!”
Brittany, our SCCA dance teacher once again helped our school to offer the audience a truly moving and memorable performance. Well Done Brittany! She apparently had other schools performing on the night too. We are grateful for her time and commitment to our school.
My thanks to Robyn Starkey, Natasha Holmes, Emily Duxbury and Gabriella May for supporting our dress rehearsal logistics, Robyn Starkey, Jane Platt and Sarah Smith for helping organise costumes and Margaret Corrigan, Heather Martin, Chloe Nicklin, Emily Duxbury, Gabriella May, Nick Webster, Jane Platt and Robyn Starkey for supervising and organising children on the night. I’d like to say a big thank you to SCCA parent Angela Houston who volunteered her time to style the children’s hair.
A final shout out to Lesley Meddings and her Blackpool “scouting team”. The treasure trove that is their “costume hut” supplies us with costumes for our school performances regularly and we simply couldn’t do without them.
